Eze 34:2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?
We are accountable for every person in our life group.
Live selflessly.
Serve sincerely.
Look after them.
When you became a leader, it’s no longer about you. It’s about THEM (cliche, but true). This doesn’t mean our joy is lessened. It completes the joy of God, and if He’s happy, then our joy is complete, too. For me, it is a great honor to be chosen to lead, to serve. I realized that to be CHOSEN by God is something we could be very PROUD OF.
I mean, think about it, the King of the Universe, Creator of Heaven and earth, of all things seen and unseen, Glorious One — and the list of titles can go on — handpicked you to do this specific task. WOW.
But then again, I thought, with this kind of honor, how could I remain humble? I mean, I feel so good about this privilege that I could go around boasting to people,
“Hey, I’ve been chosen by God.”
“THE God? You mean the God of Heaven and earth??”
“Yeah! You’re right. I’m pretty special, huh? [Hahaha.]”
There was this one time when my friends and I were riding a bus to the UP Fair (KontraKultura 2012) and we were just talking about God and His awesomness. Actually, we talked about A LOT of things. Then my friend told me,
“You know what, we’re all God’s favorite because there’s something in us that He likes the most, and
it’s different in everyone of us.”
And I was like, “Yeah, you’re right. I’m God’s favorite. (with a very confident smile).”
And my friend was like, “>:O I’m also God’s favorite!!”
We just laughed it off, but in the end, I insisted, “but really, I am God’s favorite. :D”
I feel really enthusiastic about being hand-picked by God. All of us are. And true enough, we are all God’s favorite. So even if times get rough, especially in leadership, I just close my eyes, pray, and believe in my heart, “Jesus got my back.”
Whenever I’m tired and worn out and feel like I cannot go on anymore, I say Php 4.13 (I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength). It’s a common verse among us, but when I read it myself during my devotional time, it came to me as personal and as a “real” word of strength and encouragement. That’s why it has become as one of my life’s verses.
So don’t give up. Smile you pretty child! And be encouragde by God. Read the Bible. Pray. And believe in your heart that what you pray will come true, because that’s faith. God does not give us much responsibility without giving the strength and resources we need for it. And trust my words when I say: YOU ARE GOD’S FAVORITE. :)
